re-potting lemon seedlings grown from seed

My enterprising brother-in-law buried several lemon seeds culled from kitchen waste into a 2-gallon black growing container in before last year’s summer.

Alas, the lemons took so long to sprout he abandoned the project all together. He left the pot in back of our shed and promptly forgot its existence.

It was a real happy day when I saw that one lemon plantlet has braved the inhospitable surroundings.

Then this spring, two other seedlings emerged.

So to give them a warmer welcome than they had before, I decided to repot them into larger containers so they’ll have room to grow.

I added citrus fertilizer to give them a leg up the growing ladder. (Bad pun, I know.)

Now, they sit with my repotted calamansi in our back porch.
